Am I such a sadist for finding this funny? Or is it just there as consolation for my misfortunes? Lol it's hilarious though.

Rant: Minuscule

Recently, I copied a series of movies from Isabel. Within the batch were a series of French animations titled "Minuscule - La Vie Privee Des Insectes". It's a series of animations in coorperation with Disney, about the somewhat tweaked lifestyle of various insects of the countryside, without dialogue (or at least the version I watched was) so enjoyable for everyone all around the world. The characterisation of the insects were all done brilliantly, each episode only 5 minutes or so long, telling short stories with the characteristics of the human nature, re-enacted by CGI insects. The background is done with shots of the French countryside, peaceful scenes of fields, forests, grasslands. The animation is short, cute and funny, suited for all ages.
The first episode, for example, depicted a playful ladybug challenging a colony of flies, leading to a wild chase around the fields, destroying repeatedly the home of a poor spider. The scenes parody human car races and 'hoon' activities, a delightful portrayal of a rathered cliched plot.
My favourite so far is the caterpillar and the brook, a story of how a caterpillar, in search of new feeding grounds, overcame various obstacles and a great distance, only to be disappointed.
I found a link here:
http://www.veoh.com/browse/videos/category/dummy/watch/v16251465yBHWTHy3
The CGI caterpillars are my favourites xD They're tiny eyes make such a cute expression. The sound effects used in the series is also great, sometimes used to further reinforce the various parodies.
Even though I am an insect hater in real life, I can't hate Minuscule. It's simply heart warming~

Random rant: Hetalia~!!

  • Sep. 27th, 2009 at 11:45 PM
Date eeh = =lll
After failing at converting people to Gintama, I've taken up doing the same with APH. Personally, I find the idea of personifying countries something that even non-anime fans would enjoy......but I guess people are just too lazy to read subtitles = =
The few non-anime friends I showed it to didn't seem too keen.....though it seemed mildly amusing, judging from their reactions. The anime friends all like it. One of them showed it to her sister (who hates watching anime in Jap just coz reading subtitles is troublesome = =) and she got into it too.
Anyways, I love it! Not only coz it's easy to do doujins on (lol god when did I go from Yaoigirl to Fangirl??!!), it's also good for just random comedy. I think Japanese comedy shows amuse me so much because of their whole tsukkomi-boke thing where the reaction is also included in the telling of the joke. Or maybe just because I'm Asian....? Ah I don't know. Either how, reactions are what amuse me the most. And when Jap comedy overdramaticise these, they succeed at cracking me up. Anyhow, I digress.
Back to the topic--Hetalia is wonderful!! Not only do you get to learn history, you get a fun way to remember it. I think teachers need to use it as teaching material. I think they should make a teaching material like this to teach. I also think that Gintama needs to be subbed faster. But I digress.
Ha, well that killed my boredom somewhat. Mmmm maybe I should stop leaving random pointless posts so much....? Especially when I'm brain dead. SLEEP EARLIER YOU STUPID FGIRL!!
Ha, g'night. = =lll

These are the official photos of my Katsura cosplay xD As opposed to my crappy deterioted-makeup wind-blown-hair Manifest version~ A big thank you goes out to Isabel for helping with the photography and make up, and to Kels who made most of my costume~ Couldn't have done it without her. xoxox xD

Pic of Zura's true nature >.> Like an idiot xD (Can you even see my expression??!! Oh well there're bigger versions of some of these in my dA gallery if you really wanna see it. This one akes me laugh every time tho xD I looked so stupid....)

I look like I'm about to eat that tree branch lmao xD

It's winter! Hence the dead tree xD

Rant: Totally Captivated [Yaoi]

I finished this manga (or should I say, manhwa?) last night and loved it! So I'm going to recommend it to everyone out there reading this. If there is anyone. But anyways.

The summary+info is over here: (I'm too lazy to type one up ^^) http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=13353

The manhwa is basically just light yaoi, mixed with the typical Korean drama storyline and mafia and loan sharks etc, involving a cute little seme-turned-uke and a insane sadistic mafia boss xD PLUS our boss Mookyul bears a striking resemblance to Hijikata-kun. The hair, the eyes, the cigarette, and attitude. Just this one's a S.....but I love him nontheless >_<

The story manages to take the reader through the entire range of emotions felt by our main characters, while also incorprating humour into the plot. There's quite a few enjoyable twist in this manhwa, despite the fact that they make you wanna cry. And, of course, the art is exquisite~! (And smexy. I just wanted to say 'exquisite' XD)
I'm usually not a big fan of Korean manhwa (half of them I read turn out really cheesy and/or lame....or so I think), but this one has really gotten to me. So those of you who are fans of yaoi, or shounen ai (this one is strictedly only 16+....so pretty harmless ^^), or just pretty boys, give this a try!! You can find the download link (or buy it in English) from whichever site you get your manga. There's 6 volumes and they're all completely scanlated~~

Aaaand I found out today that there's also a doujin, drawn by the Yoo Ha Jin herself (author of the series). Most likely this one's a bit more graphic (Haven't read it yet ^^) and it is not licensed in English. So I found a DL link at dragoness57's page. Be sure to thank her~!!

Cosplay for lazy people

  • Jul. 12th, 2009 at 3:47 PM
takasugi

A couple of us are planning on doing Gintama cosplay for the coming convention in August.....but we're all too lazy. I chose Zura ahead of time coz the hair is pretty much the same as mine....cept for the fringe. But that's easily fixed. And the kimono is fairly easy to make, so it won't be time consuming and it'll be CHEAP!! Lol poor people like me.......I was planning on carrying this sword I have...but they banned metal weapons at the convention :(
But anyways. The other people wanting to cosplay don't even know what they're doing - I've got one Asian girl wanting to cosplay as something but can't be bothered getting wigs, or contacts, or making a complicated costume. Much like me ^^ But yea. She's a strange one - wanted to cosplay  Baka Hata ouji but is too lazy. I asked her what she would do for the skin, and she answered, "what about taro paste?" So we still haven't decided. I suggested Kyuubei. She wasn't up to the eps yet. Tama? Not up to that either. Itsuu? Costume too troublesome. I have no idea what to do with her *sigh*
I wanted her to cosplay Okita, wearing a white kimono, with the candle thing on his head and with a stake, hammer, voodoo doll with Hijikata's face on it XD But she refused. So she might change anime = = and cosplay as something else. Easy. Like Guu. >.>
Mmm this is such a pointless entry isn't it? Lol. Aaah I wish I was in China......you can just pay the tailor and everything will be done for you =w=
I still want an Elizabeth. Coz the alternative would be me holding a doll or having one hanging off my belt......with a sign that sez "Zura ja nai! Katsura daaa!!!" Or something.
Myah =w= maybe I should start writing proper entries soon......or fanfics or something =w=

Eh....Hello people.....

Eh....G'day everyone! (Not that I actually say G'day in real life.....) It's been quite a while since I constructed this account, but I'm too lazy to actually post. Being the lazy person that I am. And busy with year 12, the last year of high school *COUGH cough*
Well.....don't know what to say really. I'm a teenage Asian living in Aus (and that's NOT Austria), turning lazier by the minute, trying to get a life but really can't seem to bring myself to care. Our careers advisor at school asks, What do you want to do next year? I dunno. Any general ideas? Nope. Anything you want to do? Nah not really. *receives an exasperated glare* And you're already sitting on such a high ENTER???
He's at his wits' end with me *laughs* Aaah but I really don't want to graduate~~ There's so many friends that I dunno if I'll ever see again....though I suppose we must all move on at some point *sigh*

But let's ignore the depressing stuff. On a more positive note, I received a very nice present of 4 Gintama doujin from [info]tianneh Anego int the mail today XD I was really happy~ It was a an awesome ending to the day, what with me whiling the entire day away wandering through the city of Melbourne with a bunch of friends. Though I spent more money on food today than anything else ^^U First meals, then various lollies and Krispy Kremes (yum~) That group decided to stay overnight in an inn in Melb, while I caught up with another friend who graduated from our school last year. God he makes me dread going to uni = = But the ramen was good ^^

Exhausted when I got home, I just went straight onto the net and chatted and browsed the rest of the night away. As I am doing now xD I really should've been finishing those fanarts for Sougo (Gintama)'s birthday........but I'm too lazy. And I hate leaving things half done, as it would've been if I started tonight, coz I would have had to go to bed before I finished. (Yeah I'm sorry....full of excuses aren't I -.- ) Art is such a pain sometimes.....though you couldn't really call what I attempt as 'art'. 'Drawings' at the most, I think. Sometimes I forget that this is just for fun, for entertainment on my part, and my perfectionist side takes over. And fails. Hence I'm very tempted to ditch that doujin I'm working on.....

Speaking of which, I had a fair close call the other night. Nearly had a heartattack o.O I was finishing off another old drawing when I realised that I missed a bit when I was lining before. So I reopened my pot of brown ink, only to discover, that IT HAD SOMEHOW TURNED BLACK. (I probably dipped my brush into the wrong pot when reinking......I'm an idiot....)
Of course I panicked. Ran around the house like an idiot trying to find some tool to help me separate the layer of black ink in there....IF it hadn't been mixed in already.
And then, of course, I just had to place the inkpot on the edge of my table, and I just had to accidentally give it the elbow and send it flying. Opened. ONTO THE CARPET. THE FRICKIN' CARPET!! You can imagine how angry my parents got. Dad and I spent 2 hours using water and carpet cleaners to try to clean up the black puddle quickly sinking into the fibres. We got most of it. At least now it's only gray and brown as opposed to a big black pool of....darkness. (Lol that sounds so evil) So now I have splotchy carpet. Good new is, nothing spilled onto my doujin pages which were spread across the floor, drying. Bad new is, I forgot that I had inky hands and went to pick them up. BIG mistake. Lucky they're only small spots. Just need to do a lot of Photoshop editing *sigh*

OK now that I've sulked and whined enough, I shall leave this entry be and go to bed. I only had 5 and a half hours sleep last night (geez it's the holidays! Screw the guy who organised our Melb trip to start at 8am!!!!!>.>) and staying up past 12 is probably not the best idea. Oh well. Too late now.
